Raw Goat Milk Mild Wisconsin Cheddar Cheese by Mt. Sterling Cheese Coop is a mild natural cheddar style goat's milk cheese made from raw, not pasteurized milk, and then aged a minimum of 60 days. This Wisconsin cheese is Mt. Sterling's most popular product and has won the Gold Medal at the American Dairy Goat Products Association contest, won awards at the Wisconsin State Fair, and received international awards at the biennial World Championship Cheese Contest held in March 2000, where Mt. Sterling was the top-ranked goat cheese from America and ousted respected cheese makers from Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and the United States. Four 8 oz. packages. Ships Mondays only.

This is my absolute favorite goat cheese out on the market. It is delicious and doesn't have the strong after-taste that is so typical of goat cheeses. Rather the taste is mild. It is much sought after in my house and a top seller in the health food store in town. It is made from raw milk, not pasteurized, which is sought after in the health community. The flavor is wonderful. It can be eaten raw or used for cooking. Plainly put, it is delicious!

I have to say I was disappointed - it may just have been my batch, but the texture was closer to mass-produced supermarket cheddar rather than a raw milk boutique cheese. Rubbery mouth feel and a mild, innocuous taste. I was hoping for much more from this cheese based on the write up and awards. Overall, this is an easy to eat cheese that would be good to serve to friends who are put off by stronger, flavorful cheeses.
